How We Make Our Natural Multi-Surface Cleaner
Our process of making our natural multi-surface cleaner is as simple as the ingredients it contains. Take a look at the steps.
Step 1. Add Organic Vegetable Oils
The first step in the production of our natural surface cleaner involves weighing specific amounts of Organic Coconut Oil and Organic Olive Oil and pouring them into a heated tank.
Step 2. Add Tocopherol (Vitamin E)
We add Tocopherol (Vitamin E) as a natural method to delay oxidation of the oils which extends their shelf life.
Step 3. Add Water & Potassium Hydroxide (Lye)
The oils are heated and once they reach a temperature of 150 °F we add a mixture of Purified Water and Potassium Hydroxide flakes (Lye) to the hot oils. The oils, water and potassium hydroxide are then stirred until they combine to form a paste.
Step 4. Cook Paste
The paste produced during the previous step is then cooked.
Step 5. Add Water
Once the paste has been fully cooked, we add purified water in order to dilute the paste, producing liquid soap.
Step 6. Add Water & Citric Acid
In order to reduce the pH of the liquid soap at this stage, we add a mixture of Purifed Water and Citric Acid. Once this stage is complete, no Potassium Hydroxide (Lye) remains in our soap.
Step 7. Add Essential Oils
At this final stage of production, we add Essential Oils to produce our scented surface cleaners. In the case of our Unscented surface cleaner, we leave it as is without adding any essential oils to it. This final mixture of all of the ingredients is stirred thoroughly to produce the final surface cleaning product!
